For over 50 years Port Carling Winterfest has offered Muskokans the chance to get out there and embrace winter.
The annual event takes place February 3, 4 and 5 and there’s no shortage of events to keep visitors busy all weekend long.
For a $5 fee at the gates (entrance is free for children 12 and under) guests get a souvenir wooden medallion which serves as their passport to all the winter fun.
The opening ceremonies kick off at 6:30 pm on Friday with a figure skating demonstration inside the Port Carling Arena, followed by a campfire and lighting of the ski trail at Hanna Park.
The bulk of the events take place throughout the day on Saturday with things kicking off inside the Community Centre at 9 a.m.. Dozens of events take place throughout the day including a dog show at 11 a.m. in the Township parking lot, lumberjack activities at 11:30 a.m. and the ever-popular snow snake competition in Hanna Park at 2:15 p.m.
Winterfest wraps up on Sunday with a brunch at the Port Carling Legion starting at 9 a.m., followed by the polar Bear dip at Hanna Park at noon and the chilli cook-off contest at 1 p.m., also at the Port Carling Legion.
