Year in Review: Top news stories of 2023

1. Residents concerned over Hindu centre in Gravenhurst

In November, Gravenhurst Council heard concerns over a Hindu cultural center planned for Canning Road In Gravenhurst.

2. Bracebridge ready to roll out new animal feeding bylaws

Earlier this month, after much debate about songbirds, surveys and scavengers, Bracebridge councillors voted unanimously to approve a wildlife feeding by-law.

3. Bracebridge looking at public access to 32 waterfront properties

Also in December, the Town’s general committee voted to prioritize 32 municipally owned and undeveloped waterfront properties for future development.

4. Province approves Muskoka Royale college rezoning in Bracebridge

In November, nearly three years after a rezoning paved the way for a new college in Bracebridge, the way was finally clear for the project to proceed.

The Ontario Land Tribunal approved, with some minor amendments, the Town of Bracebridge Official Plan amendment and zoning bylaw amendment necessary for the school to be built.
