A Bracebridge man found himself on the wrong side of the law after he was found with stolen tires and equipment from a local car dealership.
Appearing in a Bracebridge courtroom recently, William Borne, 21, pled guilty to possession of stolen property over $5,000 and mischief.
Court heard that on Aug 30, 2024, the Opp were called regarding a theft from a car dealership on Ecclestone Drive in Bracebridge.
Shortly thereafter, the police were alerted to a Ford Bronco in a nearby grocery store parking lot which had the stolen tires in the back. The vehicle was towed and the stolen goods were recovered.
The Justice seemed surprised with the over $5,000 valuation of the tires.
“That sounds like my mechanic,” he quipped, but the Crown elaborated that several tools were also stolen with the tires.
In an unrelated incident, Borne pled guilty to mischief, “interfering with the lawful enjoyment” of another person’s property by continually driving past and revving his engine.
Born was given a suspended sentence and 12 months probation.
