The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two individuals following a drug trafficking investigation in Simcoe County, seizing over half a kilogram of illicit drugs (CSDA) and a loaded firearm.
On February 9, 2023, at approximately 2:20 p.m., members of the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit, with support from Central Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 near the Town of Bracebridge; in relation to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in Simcoe County.
Police arrested two individuals in the vehicle and seized the following items:
· Glock 45 caliber handgun (loaded)
· Separate bag of .45 caliber ammunition
· 578 grams of cocaine
· 14 grams of methamphetamine
· 169 grams of fentanyl
· $36,000 proceeds
· Cellular devices
· Digital scale
As a result, Police have charged the following individuals:
Ali HAMIEH age 23, of Windsor, with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- opioid (other than Heroin) (CDSA)
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- methamphetamine
- Unauthorised possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Transport Firearm, weapon, prohibited device in a careless manner
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with ammo
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime- over $5000 (CC)
The accused was held for a bail hearing on February 10, 2023 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie, Ontario.
Mohamed AL KUHALY, age 19, of Windsor, with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- opioid (other than Heroin) (CDSA)
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- methamphetamine
- Unauthorised possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Transport Firearm, weapon, prohibited device in a careless manner
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with ammo
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime- over $5000 (CC)
