Residents interested in serving on Muskoka Lakes council continue to put their names forward ahead of the 2026 municipal election, with candidates registered for the positions of mayor, township councillor and district and township councillor.
As of now, Peter Kelley is the only registered candidate for mayor.

The candidate list remains subject to change as the nomination period continues. Candidates have until Friday, Aug. 21 at 2 p.m. to file their nomination papers with the Township Clerk.
The 2026 municipal election will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, when voters will elect a mayor along with Township and District councillors to serve a four-year term on Muskoka Lakes council.
