This calendar is reserved for non-commercial local community events. What does that mean? Your event must be free or of nominal cost, available to anyone (although adult-only events are fine), and not for profit. (We do make exceptions for artists showing their work who would profit from any sales made and musicians hosting small-scale concerts). Not sure if your event fits? Drop us a line at [email protected] to check, or go ahead and submit anyhow – submissions are moderated and we will approve yours if it fits our criteria. Thanks for helping make Muskoka a vibrant community!

An Inspiring Evening with Acclaimed poet, novelist, environmental scientist, Madhur Anand

June 11 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
$20

Muskoka Authors Association is delighted to welcome acclaimed poet, novelist, and environmental scientist Madhur Anand on Thursday, June 11, for an inspiring evening exploring the intersections of literature, memory, science, language, and the natural world.

A professor of Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph and an award-winning poet, Madhur Anand brings extraordinary depth and intelligence to her fiction writing. Her highly praised debut novel, To Place a Rabbit, is a witty, layered, and deeply original literary work that examines the tangled relationships between art, translation, love, and identity.

Beyond her literary accomplishments, Anand’s distinguished international research career focuses on global ecological change, biodiversity loss, and the preservation of vulnerable ecosystems. Her work has taken her to research fellowships around the world, including positions at the University of Trieste, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Utrecht University, and the University of New Mexico.

With her rare ability to weave together scientific inquiry and lyrical storytelling, Madhur Anand promises an unforgettable presentation for readers, writers, and anyone fascinated by the many ways our lives—and our stories—become entangled.

Join us for an evening of thought-provoking conversation with one of Canada’s most compelling literary voices.
