An impaired driver picked the wrong drive-through to visit, a Bracebridge court heard recently.
Albert Curnew, 21, pleaded guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, stemming from a Sept. 10, 2022 incident.
Court heard that on that day at roughly 2:30 am an OPP officer pulled into the drive-through of a Bracebridge fast-food restaurant. When the line of vehicles went to advance the officer noticed that one of the cars remained stationary.
The officer approached the vehicle and found a man inside passed out in the driver’s seat with the car running. The driver smelled of alcohol, court heard, and “considerable effort” was required to wake the driver.
Tests revealed 214 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in Curnew’s system, more than double the legal limit.
He was fined $2,500, banned from driving for one year and given 12 months probation.
