An open letter to Muskoka District Chair Jeff Lehman:
Jeff…Please arrange to have the email below sent to all District Councillors and also to all District Staff that are involved in this “issue” or project related to
100 Oakwood Heights, Bracebrige. In addition please pass this email onto the Bracebridge Fire Chief and Fire Inspector.
Dear Jeff….The new Ontario Fire Code requires the District of Muskoka states that “It is the owners responsibility to adhere to the Ontario Fire Code”
As such, the District of Muskoka MUST install a water sprinkler system at 100 Oakwood Heights, Bracebridge.
The disabled senior citizens at this residence are saying “We have nowhere to go.” This is after being told that the District of Muskoka intents to move them or evict them. This is causing traumatic stress for these disabled seniors citizens, that includes crying in front of others.
Strong people (like the politicians on the council of the District of Muskoka) do NOT put others down. Rather they lift them up.
“Just do it” Yes, install a water sprinkler system as required by the Ontario Fire Code.

Some of these people are seniors and some are younger. All needing wheelchair accessible apartments. One woman is 40 year’s of age and was asked if she has ever thought of a retirement home. This is not right and horribly sad! Put in the sprinkler system!

Who does the District think the are the irresponsible authority? They are not the taxed public. All the years our tax dollars have gone to these overpaid Public Employees. Are disabled or old persons not contributors of the monies that the District has collected. PUT IN THE DANN SPRINKLERS!

It is not fair what they are doing to these people. How would the district and fire department like it if it was happening to them. I bet they would change their minds real quick.

Is there any reason why sprinklers can’t be installed with people living in the units? Can pipes be run on the but walls instead of inside the walls? It won’ t look pretty but ask the residents which they would prefer, looking at pipes or moving. Pipes installed on walls can be covered.
