This summer, residents and visitors are invited to discover one of Bracebridge’s most treasured landmarks as Woodchester opens its doors for weekly drop-in days beginning Thursday, July 2. Every Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. until August 27, visitors can tour the building and get a glimpse into the town’s history. No registration is required, simply drop in and explore. Please note, drop-in hours are unavailable on August 6.
In addition to touring the historic home, enjoy several other activities around the property, including the Storybook Trail, which invites visitors to walk the grounds as they enjoy the story, “Lucky the Maple Key”, a charming tale about a maple key who shares what it’s like to live and grow in the forest. Then, visitors can take in a view of the Muskoka River from the observation deck.
The Town also encourages history enthusiasts to continue their journey online by exploring the Bracebridge Digital Archive, a collection of historical photographs, documents and artifacts that help tell the story of the community’s rich heritage.

Taxpayers should definitely check out the ‘viewing observation deck’ which cost the taxpayer $100,000. Allegedly built so you can see the Muskoka river. This has to be one of the most outrageous expenditures of money by Town council and the bureaucrats.who seem keen on wasting money that isn’t theirs.. the original storybook trail placards had to be replaced because they were full of spelling and grammatical errors. You can’t make up the stuff that goes for wasteful spending of taxpayers money in Bracebridge.
