Wild driving lands rider in court

A motorcycle driver landed in court after questionable driving on Hwy 11.

Appearing recently in a Bracebridge courtroom, Marcus Berger, 41, pled guilty to operating a motorcycle carelessly.

Court heard that on Aug.21, 2022, the OPP were on patrol in the southbound lanes of Hwy 11 in Gravenhurst.

At 5:12 pm the police observed Berger merge onto Hwy 11 from Hwy 118 at a high rate of speed. The driver rode roughly five feet behind the bumper of the car in front of him before passing on the centre line between two cars. The OPP reported the move nearly caused an accident. 

Pulled over, Berger was found to have alcohol in his system. 

He was sentenced to a $1,250 fine and one-year probation, including the term that he only drive with an interlock ignition system.
