Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a string of thefts that occurred on May 23, 2023 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. in a commercial area in Gravenhurst.
Police responded to the initial complaint where it was reported that suspects had stolen hanging baskets and soil and were in the process of collecting evidence when the victim called back to report that the suspects had returned. Officers were quick to arrest three suspects and identified a fourth person. The investigation revealed that four commercial business were victimized.
Police have charged 48-year-old Salem BERDAY of Bracebridge, ON with Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b) and Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA 5(2). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on July 4th, 2023 to answer to his charges. Police have also charged 31-year-old Julia DANN of Gravenhurst with Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 27th, 2023 to answer to her charge.
Furthermore, 42-year-old Aurel WINK of Gravenhurst stands charged with Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b) X 2 and Possession of Schedule I Substance CDSA4(1). He was held for a bail hearing on May 24, 2023 in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.
