Bracebridge Chamber cautions against scam targeting local business

The Bracebridge Chamber of Commerce issued a caution yesterday over a scam potentially targeting local small and medium businesses.

According to the warning issued yesterday:

“We would like everyone to be advised of a scam that is currently targeting the Muskoka area. It seems to be targeting medium/large businesses in the area as well as some Chambers.

People are receiving emails with attachments and invoices from what looks to be their regular customers or contacts. If you see something that seems out of the ordinary or suspicious in any matter, we advise calling the contact you received it from directly to ensure that it is legitimate.

It is frustrating but some added due diligence at the moment is suggested in order to keep everyone safe from these internet scammers.”
