Driver crashes on Hwy 11 while under the influence

An Etobicoke man was in court recently to pled guilty after crashing his car on Highway 11 in Gravenhurst.

Appearing virtually in a Bracebridge courtroom, Brian Veiga, 43, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, stemming from an accident that occurred on January 21, 2022.

Court heard that on that day at approximately 5 am, the Bracebridge OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 11. When they arrived police found the damaged vehicle and Veiga had to be extracted by EMS.

Police determined that Veiga was “under the influence of an intoxicating substance,” the court heard.

He was fined $1,000, placed on 12 months probation and ordered to install an interlock device in his vehicle.
