Ethan Roos selected for Laurentian’s first ever CUFLA Rookie All-Star game

Ethan Roos, who grew up in Bracebridge and played minor lacrosse in Huntsville, has been selected for the first-ever Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association Rookie All-Star game representing Laurentian University.

“Ethan came in this season as a rookie goaltender for us, we knew about his playing experience and had some pretty high expectations. He surpassed all expectations pretty quickly during our training camp. Early on it was pretty clear that Ethan would be taking over the starting role for us this season, a rookie goaltender hasn’t jumped in and secured the starting role for us in at least the last 10 seasons, potentially even further back,” said Matt Delabbio, Assistant Coach for Laurentian University Men’s Lacrosse team.

Delabbio said Ross started in all ten games this season. “With our scores this season not being the greatest, without Ethan in the net things would’ve gotten a lot worse. Ethan is a phenomenal goaltender and I believe his selection for the rookie all-star game shows that the league has taken notice. Ethan has great positioning, and does an excellent job tracking the ball. Ethan can also be a one-man clearer for us at times, as he isn’t afraid to get the ball over half himself, there’s been many times this season where he’s run through 3-4 opposing players to help us get the ball over half and in the stick of one of our offensive players. The future is looking very bright with Ethan, I believe he has the potential to be an All-Canadian Goaltender in this league before he graduates,” added Delabbio.
