The Gravenhurst Athletes of the Month for January are Elise Badert and Landen Barron.
Our exchange student from Belgium, Elise Badert, has lots of experience on the field hockey pitch back home, and decided to see if she could translate those skills to the ice on the GHS Hockey team. She was a rookie skater, but put worked hard at all of the drills we threw at her in addition to attending lots of public skating for extra practice. Her commitment to development has set a solid example for the team, many of whom are also developing skills and are encouraged to be growing together with her this season. Congratulations on earning your place as January’s athlete of the month!
As a member of the boys’ hockey team, Landen has given it his all in each of our games so far this season. Playing centre, he is on the ice a lot, and is being counted on by his teammates to help generate much of our offence. Besides having offensive skills, Landen is also a very strong back checker. His two-way game and endless hustle, stands out to anyone watching. Keep up the hard work, Landen!
