Gravenhurst man fined, banned from driving after impaired conviction

A 34-year-old Gravenhurst man has been fined and prohibited from driving after pleading guilty to an impaired driving offence in a local courtroom.

Mateusz Rodykow pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams. The charge relates to an incident on Jan. 25, 2025.

Court heard that an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police was in the parking lot of a Gravenhurst LCBO when Rodykow drove into the lot. The officer believed the driver was under suspension and approached the vehicle to investigate.

During the interaction, the officer formed the opinion that Rodykow was impaired by alcohol. Rodykow was arrested and required to provide breath samples, which registered over the legal limit.

The court was also told Rodykow has a prior record.

He was fined $3,000 and received a two-year driving prohibition. In addition, the judge imposed 18 months of probation.
