Gravenhurst man pleads guilty to stealing rack of lamb, shades and a hat

A Gravenhurst thief was in court recently after stealing a variety of items from around town.

Appearing recently in a Bracebridge courtroom John Holub, 32, of Gravenhurst pleaded to multiple counts of theft, as well as failing to comply with court conditions.

Court heard that on April 14, 2022, police were contacted by grocery store staff in Gravenhurst regarding a shoplifter. Staff said they had seen Holub steal a rack of lamb and a protein shake by putting it into his coat and trying to leave the store. He was detained by staff and arrested by police. The value of the goods was placed at $50.

On May, 30, 2022 he returned to the same grocery, despite the fact that he was now banned from the premises, and stole a packet of steaks and some sunglasses.

Then on June 2, 2022, police arrested Holub at a brewery in Gravenhurst after it was determined that he had stolen a hat from the brewery.

A joint position was put forward and accepted for a sentence of 20 days custody, served pre-trial, and 12 months probation. Holub is also now banned from multiple businesses in Gravenhurst and one residence.
