Hotel dispute ends in multiple convictions

A woman’s decision to drive away from a dispute while under the influence recently resulted in a court appearance in Bracebridge.

Sarah Godfrey, 34, pled guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood and a breach of undertaking.

Court heard that the Huntsville OPP were notified of a dispute at an area hotel at roughly 9:12 pm on March 22, 2023. Upon arrival, police were told that Godfrey had left the hotel in a vehicle. They eventually caught up with Godfrey who they observed driving in an “abnormal” manner.

She was arrested and blew readings of 200 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, more than double the legal limit.

Court heard Godfrey had no previous criminal record.

She was sentenced to a $2,000 fine and a one-year driving ban, as well as a conditional discharge and 12 months probation on the breach of undertaking.
