Impaired driver found passed out at stop sign

A man recently appeared in a Bracebridge courtroom to plead guilty to impaired driving after falling asleep at a stop sign.

Last month Richard Marsolais, 65, of Russel Township was sentenced to a $1,000 fine and a 12-month driving ban for impaired driving.

According to a police report, on Aug. 21 at 7:44 p.m., OPP officers responded to a call for a person asleep at the wheel in front of a stop sign at South Portage Road and Highway 60.

Court heard the driver, Marsolais, was in the driver’s seat and initially put the car into drive before stopping again.

He was found to have 145 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system.
