Jail for knife-wielding Gravenhurst criminal

A Gravenhurst man was sentenced to jail time after threats were made and a weapon was found.

Appearing recently in a Bracebridge courtroom, Cole Stewart, 30, pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

The Court heard that on Oct. 9, 2021, police were called to an altercation in Gravenhurst. Court heard that two men had arrived at a location and threatened to stab the residents.

Police caught up with Stewart, who was on probation at the time of the incident,  and found a six-inch, fixed-blade knife on his person.

He was arrested but failed to show up for fingerprinting and then failed to show up for court.

He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 12 months on probation.
