On August 23, 2023, Joe MacNeil passed away peacefully at Andy’s House in Port Carling at the age of 78. Predeceased by his wife Louise Catherine (Blake). The two are now reunited once again to enjoy Heaven’s own Bonnie Lake
From a small town in Giants Lake, Nova Scotia, Joe left his farming family and headed West. Over the years Joe lived and worked in 5 of Canada’s provinces, before finally settling down with Louise in Bradford Ontario. When they were not at their lakefront cottage or their home in Bracebridge, the two would travel the world. They enjoyed many activities over the years and enjoyed sharing those experiences with a wide circle of family and friends. Joe was an avid Bowler; he was a master at Curling, and he took great pride in teaching and coaching all ages of new curlers in particular the Youth programs in both Bradford and Bracebridge. Joe was a mechanic and enjoyed a long progressive career at Hydro One. Joe is survived by a large extended family, in both Nova Scotia and Ontario and many friends who will all miss his abundance of stories, his array of hats, and the ease at which he could make new friends.
Following Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place on September 16, 2023, at 1;00 – 4:00 pm, at the South Muskoka Golf and Curling Club.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Manna Food Bank or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
