A Muskoka Lakes woman will be off the road for the next year after blaring music led a concerned citizen to call the police.
Yana Marshall, 47, recently pled guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in her system.
Court heard that on Jan. 16, 2023, at roughly 1:20 am, a concerned resident called to say a vehicle was parked in their driveway on Ziska Road with loud music playing. The car subsequently left but a short time later police received a second call about a possible impaired driver on Muskoka Road #118 in Muskoka Lake Township. The police were able to catch up with the driver, later determined to be Marshall, and she admitted she had consumed alcohol.
She ultimately blew a reading of 230 mg of alcohol, nearly triple the legal limit.
Court heard Marshall has no previous criminal record and she was sentenced to a $2,000 fine and a 12-month driving ban.
