Muskoka man convicted of stealing from employer

A Huntsville man who defrauded his employer out of more than $1,000 was in court last month to plead guilty.

Corbin Walsh, 20, was convicted on multiple fraud counts stemming from incidents in November of 2022.

Court heard that the incidents involved forging fraudulent return slips for the business where Walsh was employed in Huntsville. Staff from the store eventually uncovered the fraud and when Walsh attempted another transaction on Nov. 9  he was detained and police were called. However, on Nov. 23 Walsh attempted another fraudulent transaction and was arrested again.

Court heard the total amount of the fraud was $1,096.

The defence said all of the money was ready to be repaid and Walsh was given a conditional discharge and 12 months probation.
