New by-law officers, updated parks plan in Gravenhurst

Here are a few news items stemming from the most recent Gravenhurst council meeting:

New summer student by-law officers

Kirsten Marchewa and Brandon Young have accepted positions as the new Summer Student Level II Municipal Law Enforcement Officers and Property Standards Officers for the Town, therefore allowing the legal authority to enforce by-laws, post appropriate orders, and lay charges under the Town’s By-laws.

Updated Parks, Recreation and Trails plan in place

The Town now has a Parks, Recreation and Trails Master Plan that promotes strategies for the Town’s parks, trails, recreation facilities and community services. The plan, prepared by  Monteith Brown Planning Consultants includes short, medium, and long-term recommendations to meet the needs of  the community today and in the future. The plan had not been updated since 1992. Five overall objectives have been identified: “Inclusive recreation for everyone, outdoor opportunities year-round, a connected and engaged community, healthy, green, and sustainable and innovation and service excellence.” The full report is available at gravenhurst.ca
