Police chase through Bracebridge ends with $3,400 in stolen liquor recovered

A 28-year-old Brampton man has been sentenced after pleading guilty in a Bracebridge courtroom to fleeing police and breaching multiple court orders following a police pursuit that began with the theft of thousands of dollars worth of alcohol.

Davinder Singh entered guilty pleas to flight from police and failing to comply with court-ordered conditions stemming from an incident on Dec. 18, 2025.

The court heard that at approximately 9 p.m., officers with the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a theft from the LCBO in Huntsville.

Police later located the suspect vehicle at a gas station in Bracebridge and attempted a traffic stop. During the stop, one of the occupants fled on foot and was quickly apprehended by an officer. However, while police were occupied with that arrest, Singh climbed back into the vehicle and sped away.

Crown prosecutors told the court Singh led officers on a dangerous pursuit, driving at high speeds and running stop lights as police attempted to stop him. Officers eventually brought the pursuit to an end and arrested Singh during what was described as a high-risk traffic stop.

A search of the vehicle uncovered 28 bottles of stolen alcohol with a total value of $3,418.

At the time of the offences, Singh was bound by court-ordered conditions, including a prohibition banning him from entering any LCBO store in Ontario. His actions also constituted breaches of those court orders.

During sentencing, the court noted Singh had already spent just over four months in pre-trial custody. Justice imposed a sentence of time served, meaning Singh will not serve any additional jail time for the offences.
