Port Sydney driver pleads guilty to third impaired 

A driver caught with a cocktail of drugs in his system was hit with a hefty fine in Bracebridge court recently.

Justin Waters, 39, of Port Sydney pled guilty to impaired driving stemming from an incident that occurred Nov. 19, 2023.

Court heard that on that day at 8:45 pm, Huntsville OPP was contacted by a concerned citizen who reported a vehicle parked on the side of Brunel Road with a man asleep in the driver’s seat.

Police arrived and found Waters asleep in the driver’s seat with the car running. Inside the vehicle, they located a crack pipe and several bags of white powder. Blood tests later turned up methadone, morphine and cocaine in the driver’s system.

Court heard Waters has two prior impaired driving convictions and various other convictions on his criminal record.

He was sentenced to a $3,000 fine, a two-year driving ban and two years of probation.
