Shops on the Boardwalk now open at Muskoka Wharf

From the Town of Gravenhurst:

There is a new shopping experience at Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst.

On Thursday morning, council members, town staff, and the business community celebrated the grand opening of the Shops on the Boardwalk.

The shops are four 10-foot-by-10-foot units the town is leasing to vendors until mid-October.

“These new seasonal commercial spaces are a great addition to our waterfront and offer one more reason to visit our beautiful wharf,” Mayor Heidi Lorenz said.

The Shops on the Boardwalk feature a variety of vendors with everything from unique wearables and giftware, boating and ‘at the lake’ accessories, handmade jewelry, and carefully curated antiques. There is even an e-bike vendor offering test drives and unique everyday goods.

The shops help meet a key objective of the Muskoka Wharf Revitalization Plan – attracting more retail to the wharf, resulting in additional reasons for people to visit the area.

“At the same time the shops offer small footprint retail opportunities for businesses that don’t have the capacity to support their own location yet,” economic development coordinator Jennifer Brockett said. “The suggestion for pop-up retail was the fifth most repeated suggestion during the public consultation that led to the revitalization plan.”
