Taxi cab passenger gets grabby, ends up charged

A Waterloo man was in court recently after admitting to grabbing a taxi cab driver in Gravenhurst.

Appearing in a Bracebridge court, David Hardy, 42, pled guilty to assault.

The court heard that on Aug. 6, 2022, the Bracebridge OPP received a call from a taxi cab company. A driver there said she had picked up Hardy and two other men from a golf course in Gravenhurst. There was a disagreement over the cost of the fare and Hardy said he should be able to “see her boobies,” for that price. He then reached across and “contacted her breast area,” court heard.

The defence said the crime was “momentary and impulsive,” and made while Hardy was under the influence of alcohol.

Hardy was given a conditional discharge and 12 months probation.
