Discover Arts Muskoka celebrates grand opening in Gravenhurst Albion Hotel

Art lovers, community members and visitors are invited to celebrate the official grand opening of Discover Arts Muskoka (DAM) Gallery & Gifts on Saturday, June 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. in downtown Gravenhurst.

Located inside the historic Albion Hotel, the new gallery aims to showcase the creativity and talent of Muskoka artists while creating an accessible and welcoming space for the community to connect through art.

The grand opening will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the mayor. Visitors will also be among the first to view DAM’s inaugural “Bite-Sized Art” exhibit, a collection of original works measuring four inches by four inches or smaller. The exhibit highlights the creativity that can be expressed in even the smallest formats.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet many of the artists whose work is displayed in the gallery and learn more about their inspiration, techniques and connection to Muskoka.

Adding to the interactive atmosphere, attendees can participate in “The Lodge,” a community art installation inspired by DAM’s industrious beaver mascot, Castor Guy de Bois. Participants are invited to add their names to wooden sticks that will become part of the collaborative artwork.

Founded by Barbara Stofast, Discover Arts Muskoka currently features the work of 15 local artists, with plans to continue expanding. The gallery offers artwork across a range of styles and price points.

The grand opening event is free and open to the public.
