Huntsville man pulls gun on three people, stabs another

A Huntsville man is currently in jail after pleading guilty to his part in two violent incidents.

Appearing recently in a Bracebridge courtroom, Easton Childerhose, 20, pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon and breaching court-ordered conditions.

Court heard that on Nov. 5, 2022, Huntsville OPP was notified of an incident that had occurred at a public park in town. Court heard that on that day Childerhose had become involved in a verbal altercation with three young people. Childerhose then pulled, what eventually turned out to be a pellet gun, from his waistband and pointed at the youth, who fled the scene.

As part of his release, Childerhose was ordered not to possess any weapons.

However, the court heard on Feb.2, 2023, Childerhose was at what the defence described as a “multi-day drug-fueled party,” when he became involved in an altercation with another man. Childerhose produced a knife and held it to the victim’s throat before striking him in the head with the handle. He then stabbed the victim in the back of the leg three times before choking him and demanding an apology.

The victim required stitches to repair the wound, and court heard he still suffers pain and limps when walking.

Justice Robert  Gattrell called the facts of the case “shocking.”

Chidlerhose was sentenced to 330 days in jail, less credit for time served in pre-trial custody. He was also sentenced to two years of probation.
