A Bracebridge driver who crashed into a hydro pole was later found to have a cocktail of drugs in her system at the time.
Stephanny Leonard, 37, recently pled guilty in a Bracebridge courtroom to driving while impaired by drugs.
Court heard that on Oct. 15, 2021 at roughly 7:30 pm Bracebridge OPP received a complaint about a driver on Highway 118. The caller said the car had been driving all over the road before smashing into a hydro pole. When police arrived they found the vehicle badly damaged with part of a broken hydro pole lying on top.
Officers became suspicious that the driver, Leonard, was impaired but determined alcohol was not a factor. Blood tests later found fentanyl, methadone and multiple other drugs in the woman’s system.
