A repeat offender who admitted to a series of thefts in Huntsville earlier this year has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.
Saverio Cerra, 48, pleaded guilty in a Bracebridge courtroom recently to multiple counts of theft.
The court heard that on the evening of Feb. 17, Cerra stole several bottles of perfume worth about $500 from a Huntsville store. Investigators were able to identify him through surveillance video.
Three days later, on Feb. 20, Cerra returned to steal approximately $100 worth of comic books from another Huntsville business. Once again, he was identified through CCTV footage. At the time of the offence, Cerra was already serving a probation order.
The court heard that on Feb. 24, Cerra was arrested after stealing alcohol from the Metro grocery store in Huntsville. When police took him into custody, officers also found merchandise that had been stolen from another nearby business.
The court was told Cerra has a prior criminal record.
After pleading guilty to the offences, Cerra was sentenced to 90 days in custody, followed by 12 months of probation.
