The Town of Bracebridge has begun the next phase of improvements for the new bandshell in Memorial Park.
Following the completion of the bandshell structure at the end of last year, crews have now begun additional site enhancements, including pathway paving, landscaping, and finishing work around the structure to further enhance accessibility, safety, and the overall visitor experience in Memorial Park. A temporary, accessible washroom will be available beginning next week in time for the long weekend. A permanent washroom facility will be added to the park in 2027.
As part of this work, the cannon located at the south end of the park has been temporarily removed for repairs and future resetting. The cannon has been safely relocated during construction and will be returned to the park once the project is complete.
The Memorial Park Bandshell revitalization was undertaken as a legacy project celebrating Bracebridge’s 150-year anniversary. The renewed gathering space has been designed to support community events, performances, ceremonies, and programming for generations to come.
Residents and visitors are asked to respect all signage and barriers that may be in place while work takes place to help ensure public safety as the project progresses.

Cost of this bandshell is in fact well over $500,000. One has to take into account the cost of engineering and consultants fees, plus time of Town staff but most importantly the interest costs as Bracebridge is borrowing money for these and other capital projects. But even at $400,000 the TOTAL COST paid for this bandshell is $690,00 with the interact paid. This makes as much sense as the $100,000 ‘river viewing ‘ vanity project deck in the middle of Woodchester Woods. And how about the $135,000,000 total cost of the Arena. The Bracebridge Town Council and bureaucracy is out of control.
Correction; the cost was $384,000 not $500,000. There were less than 120 people that responded to the Engage Bracebridge survey.
M. Ratterson, the town folks did get a say, but only if they subscribed to the appropriate web site to complete a survey about this. I said it was a waste of money in my reply to the survey. At least this gazebo is good looking except for the part walls that ruin the looks of it. It might have been better to build an actual bandshell with washrooms in the same structure. And I wonder why the public washrooms can’t be in the old library, instead of building them in the park. And let’s not forget, you can build a decent house for $500,000. I wonder how much it cost the contractor to build the gazebo.
Complete waste of money.
Why didn’t townsfolk get a say?
Bandstand in 2026, genius, it’s not 1950 anymore, move with the times, and stop wasting our money.
